Here at Conscious Spaces, we’re big believers in the incredible healing and detoxing powers of Clearlight far infrared saunas. For us, an infrared sauna is an absolutely indispensable wellness aid, which is exactly why we offer such a wide range of Clearlight saunas in the Conscious Spaces shop.
Read on to learn more about the science behind this life-changing brand, and discover what makes Clearlight saunas so superior.
Clearlight saunas are not only backed by health experts; they were (2) designed, tested and approved by one too.
As a Chiropractic Doctor, founder and president of Clearlight Dr. Raleigh Duncan was able to draw on his extensive knowledge of the human body when forming the idea for his first infrared sauna.
Over the course of 20 years, Dr. Duncan poured his medical expertise and infrared therapy research into creating the most effective infrared sauna possible. Along the way, he invented (and continues to refine and finesse) the world’s first low-EMF, carbon/ceramic infrared sauna heater, thereby helping to raise industry awareness of the risks related to high EMF exposure.
“Most of us in our culture live in a stressed point. Using the sauna will reset the set point in your autonomic nervous system between fight or flight and rest and digest […] and this is just so huge for healing.”
– Dr Raleigh Duncan, Clearlight Infrared Founder
Within recent history, the traditional Finnish design of a wooden hut heated by steaming hot stones and water has dominated the sauna industry. But over the past decade, a different type of sauna has been steadily winning widespread praise, with devotees spanning health experts, celebrities (from Lady Gaga to Gwyneth Paltrow) and mere mortals alike. This type of sauna is the infrared sauna; specifically, the far infrared sauna – and it’s fast becoming an established feature of the wellness scene.
So how does a far infrared sauna work, and is using one really capable of relieving injury, boosting immunity, firing metabolism and giving skin that elusive glow
Within the complete spectrum of light, infrared is an invisible band that we experience as heat.
Think about lying on the beach on a disappointingly cloudy day. When the sun suddenly appears for a moment, you feel a rush of comforting warmth spread across your skin. That lovely warm feeling is the infrared band within the sunlight heating your body. With Infrared, you’re essentially getting all the benefits of natural, warming sunlight with none of the risks associated with harmful UV rays. In other words, a totally safe and inherently healing heat source.
Whilst a traditional Finnish sauna heats the space and air around the body, infrared saunas (like Clearlight’s) use infrared light waves to heat the body directly – from the inside out. Infrared heat works by warming your core body temperature, penetrating tissue more deeply and thereby producing more extensive health benefits.
Far infrared rays consist of similar wavelengths to those that are emitted naturally by our bodies, which may explain (3) why so many people feel rejuvenated and energetically rebalanced after using a far infrared sauna. Far infrared rays work to activate the body’s sweat glands, and are capable of (4) dissolving harmful substances that can build up in your body, vitalizing cells, boosting metabolism and improving blood circulation.
Delivering therapeutic results with cutting-edge infrared technology
Amazingly, the pioneering True Wave™ Full Spectrum infrared heaters included in all Clearlight Sanctuary Saunas (find them here in our shop) are a staggering 25 times more powerful than those of the closest competitor.
Clearlight’s unique far infrared heaters have been specially designed to produce optimal healing wavelengths between 6-12 microns.
Unlike many infrared saunas, Clearlight saunas warm your body from every direction, boasting heaters on the front, back and side walls and underneath the bench. By surrounding your body with healing heat, this 360 approach effectively raises you core body temperature, as opposed to simply heating the air within the sauna cabin.
Clearlight infrared saunas are designed to run off household mains, and take just 10 – 15 minutes to heat up before you can hop in. Costs for using a Clearlight infrared sauna come in at between 20 – 45p per hour, which – given their miraculous health benefits – seems very good value indeed.
The carbon/ceramic heaters inside a Clearlight sauna are proven to produce (5) extremely low electromagnetic fields. This means that when you sit inside a Clearlight sauna, the levels of potentially harmful electromagnetic radiation that your body is exposed to (which can be alarmingly high in competitor brands’ saunas) are virtually undetectable – leaving you feeling reassured and free to detox and heal safely.
Clearlight use non-toxic materials in the construction of their saunas. That means absolutely no nasty chemicals, toxic glues or varnishes. Clearlight’s luxurious wood cabins are built using eco-certified, solid Canadian Cedarwood and Nordic Spruce frames that produce a subtle natural woody fragrance – rather than any noxious fumes (as cheaper plywood can do) – when heated.
Every last little detail of a Clearlight infrared sauna has been carefully thought-through and lovingly crafted. An infrared sauna is a once-in-a-lifetime investment in your health, so Clearlight want your special purchase to go the distance. In fact, Clearlight are so sure of their product, that they offer a Lifetime Warranty on the entire sauna – wood cabin, controls, heaters and audio system included.
Clearlight estimate that it will take two people just 90 minutes to assemble one of their saunas, which come pre-wired. You will need a grand total of 0 tools to put together the brand’s Premier and Essential saunas, which simply clip and latch together with ease. Clearlight Sanctuary Saunas require a screwdriver and allen key, which, handily, is included.
“It is an absolute pleasure to sit in the lovely heat of the sauna and we feel our wellbeing and vitality improve from every session.”
